Uncle loses 100 lbs training for the Chicago Marathon to help nephew with genetic syndrome.

September 24, 2004 -- I am raising money for FRAXA Research Foundation so they can cure Fragile X Syndrome. This syndrome has afflicted my nephew, Matthew, and caused heartache for his entire family. I have watched Matthew struggle with things so many of us take for granted; like eating with a spoon and figuring out how and when to use the restroom, he's 8 years old. Watching him fall farther and farther behind his peers is really tearing at my heart. I love him so much and want what every Uncle, Grandparent, and of course parent wants for a child - to live a happy, healthy, full life. I see how it hurts my brother to see his son 'flapping' his hands while the other boys his age are playing baseball and peewee football. I HAD to do something.

I, myself, was struggling with a weight problem so I decided that I was going to shape up and I was going to help Matthew by running in the Chicago Marathon!

I have worked very hard and lost 100 pounds training for this event. Now I am asking you for your help to raise funds to cure Fragile X Syndrome. Your gift of sponsorship could make the difference in the research - your gift could put the added ingredient into the cure - your gift could make a miracle - your gift could help hundreds of thousands of kids AND adults become 'normal'.

Fragile X Syndrome is caused because there is ONE protein missing in a person's DNA structure - I REPEAT ONE! Scientists can clone animals, I KNOW they can cure Matthew and all of the other people in this world who are afflicted with Fragile X Syndrome. Sponsoring me online is the most efficient way for me to raise funds for FRAXA Research Foundation. Both FRAXA Research Foundation and I would really appreciate your donation. Any amount will make a difference!
